有人認為應念作twenty-ten,但有人則念成two thousand and ten,甚至有人念two-o-one-o。

老一輩念two thousand and ten

Put The Cart Before The Horse

所以要事情能夠順順利利照著原來的計劃進行,就請記得要 put the horse before the cart 而不是 put the cart before the horse.

Bella: What are you doing, honey?

Andy: Oh, hi, dear. I am looking for my TV remote control.

Bella: TV remote control?

Andy: Yeah. It's the last episode of The Apprentice tonight. I don't want to miss it.

Bella: Doesn't you have to prepare and practice your annual presentation for next

morning?

Andy: I'll do it later.

Bella: Honey, I think you better quit looking your remote control but practicing now. First thing first. Don't put your cart before the horse . You'll be in big trouble if you drop the ball on annual presentation.

Take a Leak (上洗手間)

I need to use the loo.
Where's the gets loo.(男厠)
Where's the ladies loo.(女厠)

Gina: OK, Frank. I am all set. Let's move.

Frank: Err…wait a minute.

Gina: Now what?

Frank: I just have to take a leak before we leave.

Gina: Then hurry up. The bus waits no man.

Circle 、 cycle
例 如 : Going to work, getting home, going to work again ─ ─ it is a tedious circle / cycle ( 上 班 、 回 家 、 又 上 班 ─ ─ 這 是 個 沉 悶 的 循 環 ) 。 四 季的 循 環 , 也 可 以 叫 做 the circle / cycle of the seasons 。
The New Dictionary of Good English 則 vicious circle 和 vicious cycle 並 列 , 但 注 明 The correct form is vicious circle ( Vicious circle 才 是 正 確 寫 法 ) 。 Poor countries are often caught in a vicious circle / cycle of poverty and debt, which proves almost impossible to break
Next of kin 和 next to kin 有 甚 麼 分 別 ?
Kin 是 「 親 戚 」 , 是 集 合 名 詞 ( collective noun ) , 不 可 說 a kin , 例 如 : He and all his kin live in Macao ( 他 和 他 所 有 親 戚 都 住 在 澳 門 ) 。 英 文 沒 有 next to kin 這 說 法 , 只 有 next of kin , 指 最 近 親 , 單 複 數 形 式 不 變 , 例 如 : I am / We are his next of kin ( 我 ? Kin 作 形 容 詞 , 則 可和 to 連 用 , 例 如 : Is he kin to the manager ? )

Great Song: Desperado Eagles

Desperado Eagles

Desperado
Why don't you come to your senses
You've been out riding fences for so long now
Oh, you're a hard one

But I know that you've got your reasons
These things that are pleasing you
Can hurt you somehow
Don't you draw the Queen of diamonds boy
She'll beat you if she's able
The Queen of hearts is always your best bet
How it seems to me some fine things have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones you can't get

Desperado
Oh, you ain't getting no younger
Your pain and your hunger
They're driving you home
Freedom, ah, freedom
That's just some people talking
Your prison is walking thru this world all alone

Don't your feet get cold in the winter time
The sky won't snow and the sun won't shine
It's hard to tell the night time from the day
You're losing all your highs and lows
Ain't it funny how the feeling goes away

Desperado
Why don't you come to your senses
Come down from your fences open the gate
It may be raining
But there's a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you
You better let somebody love you
Before it's too late

The Mom Song.

The Mom Song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESe-AysF9mw

Get up now.
Get up now.
Get up out of bed.
Wash your face.
Brush your teeth.
Comb your sleepy head.
Here's your clothes.
And your shoes.
Hear the words I said.
Get up now.
Get up and make your bed.
Are you hot?
Are you cold?
Are you wearing that?
Where's your books and your lunch and your homework at?
Grab your coat and your gloves and your scarf and hat.
Don't forget you got to feed the cat.
Eat your breakfast.
The experts tell us it's the most important meal of all.
Take your vitamins so you will grow up one day to be big and tall.
Please remember the orthodontist will be seeing you at three today?
Don't forget your piano lesson is this afternoon.

So you must play.
Don't shovel.
Chew slowly.
But hurry.
The bus is here.
Be careful.
Come back here.
Did you wash behind your ears?
Play outside.
Don't play rough.
Would you just play fair?
Be polite.

Make a friend.
Don't forget to share.
Work it out.
Wait your turn.
Never take a dare.
Get along.
Don't make me come down there.
Clean your room.
Fold your clothes.
Put your stuff away.
Make your bed.
Do it now.
Do we have all day?
Were you born in a barn?
Would you like some hay.
Can you even hear a word I say?
Answer the phone.
Get Off the phone.
Don't sit so close.
Turn it down.
No texting at the table.
No more computer time tonight.
Your iPod's my iPod if you don't listen up.

Where you going and with whom and what time do you think you're coming home?
Saying thank you, please, excuse me.
Makes you welcome everywhere you roam.
You'll appreciate my wisdom.
Someday when you're older and you're grown.
Can't wait 'til you have a couple little children of your own.
You'll thank me for the counsel I gave you so willingly.
But right now.

I thank you NOT to roll your eyes at me.
Close your mouth when you chew.
Would appreciate.
Take a bite.
Maybe two.
Of the stuff you hate.
Use your fork.
Do not you burp.
Or I'll set you straight.
Eat the food I put upon your plate.
Get an A, Get the door.
Don't get smart with me.
Get a Grip.
Get in here I'll count to 3.
Get a job.
Get a life.
Get a PhD.
Get a dose of...
I don't care who started it.
You're grounded until your 36.
Get your story straight.
And tell the truth for once for heaven's sake.
And if all your friends jumped off a cliff.
Would you jump too?

If I've said it once, I've said at least a thousand times before that.
You're too old to act this way.
It must be your father's DNA.
Look at me when I am talking.
Stand up straight when you walk.
A place for everything.
And everything must be in place.
Stop crying or I'll give you something real to cry about.
Oh!
Brush your teeth.

Wash your face.
Get your PJs on.
Get in bed.
Get a hug.
Say a prayer with Mom.
Don't forget.
I love you.
**KISS**
And tomorrow we will do this all again because a mom's work never ends.
You don't need the reason why.
Because.
Because.
Because.
Because.
I said so.
I said so.
I said so.
I said so.
I'm the Mom.
The mom.
The mom.
The mom.
The mom.
Ta-da.

In order for participants to grasp a deeper knowledge on global and humanity issues before they embark on the experience trip, a series of training workshops and camps will be organized by HIF to stimulate learning. Moreover, participants will have an opportunity to join other members of HIF in raising local awareness towards poverty and humanity issues after the trip.

About HIF

Humanity in Focus was set up by a group of university students who returned from a services project in Cambodia in summer 2006. It is one of the first youth initiated and managed NGOs in Hong Kong focusing on global humanity and poverty issues. We believe that everyone has a role to play in relieving global poverty and inequality, and starting as youth is of particular importance.
